I was listening to a message my mother spoke in December 2008. She was talking about Acts 3:1-10
Peter and John are going to the temple for prayer. This Man who had been crippled from birth whose family or friends carried him to the temple gate called Beautiful every day, (every day) to beg. This was all he had to look forward to all the days of his life for the rest of his life. Now you have to assume this was working for him, it had become so ingrained that he would not look or expect anything less or more for his life.
He ask Peter and John for money “can you spare a dime, do you have any change you can spare” He was looking for whatever they no longer needed or could possibly do without.
This was his life…
Peter says something to him “Look at us”. Does he say this to make the man aware “do I look like I’ve got any money?” Why, does he say this, because you have to change the way you think your life is suppose to be.
Look at us, the man gives his full attention he’s about to get paid.
Peter tells him Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ, walk.
If you could imagine this man looking at Peter and saying Okay, thank you and you be blessed. And just wait for the next person.
But Peter doesn’t just speak healing on his life He takes the man by his hand helps him up and instantly the man gets strength in his feet and ankles. He jumps to his feet and begin to walk. So now not only does this man no longer has to sit and beg for loose change he can pursue ventures he never thought he would be able to achieve. All because he changed his focus, how many can attest if I could in vision another way had a little help my life would be so different.
Father, do we have not because we ask not, In Jesus name I pray that my brothers and sisters will change their focus and see a more excellent way. I pray that you will send the help we need to instantly become strong, healthy, and prosperous. So that we will become filled with wonder and amazement at what you are doing for us. AMEN.

Pornography or Erotica?

Years ago, in my early 20’s I remember seeing a picture, it was as big as life. It was a picture of a Black Man with an afro, slim muscular body naked holding a Black woman. He had her back against his chest and he had his head bowed touching her neck his arms draped down the front of her body and his hands folded like an x. She stood in front of him legs crossed her head tilted to the left allowing him to touch her neck. Her arms draped in front of her body holding her stomach.
This is a picture I saw over 25 years ago, but the image still remains clear in my mind. I remember the arousal but I also remember thinking women aren’t supposed to feel this way. I remember trying to suppress that image pretending I didn’t see the picture or acting like it didn’t affect me.
Dr Gail Saltz says” 43% of women have some sort of sexual dysfunction-they have trouble with desire or they have trouble with arousal and this is a tool to use if you need help feeling more aroused or something to increase the pleasure of your sexuality which is extremely important to women”. She also says that anything really pleasurable can become kind of addictive.
Pornography is sexually explicit material intended to cause sexual arousal. The image that is imagined is a group of men in a basement looking at films. Or a magazine hidden in the bedroom with pages stuck together.
Erotica: art or literature intended to arouse sexual desire by portraying sex in an explicit way. It is the expression of details in a clear and obvious way, leaving no doubt as to the intended meaning.
As women become the consumers for erotic films, because the mind of the woman is constantly moving on different subjects at the same time, the films will have to not only stimulate the woman’s body but also stimulate her mind.
When a child watch a show they pick a character and will say I’m who ever. They imagine themselves doing what the character is doing. If phenomenal they will take the act away from the television or movie and make it a part of their dreams or play. It is from this we imagine ourselves doing and executing great feats of accomplishment.
It is from our imagination we are aroused, we see ourselves as the woman or the man in the picture or film and emulate what they are doing. Something we have done since we were children.
Dr. Pepper Schwartz says “A lot of filmmaker’s have gotten really smart about putting together pornographic, explicit films that are not denigrating to women. None of us are going to get excited about seeing something where we feel badly for the women.”
Women don’t want to see bad things happening to themselves. When looking for erotic films women will look for some thing they would like to imagine themselves doing. Location is important to a woman. Atmosphere has to be unequivocal. It is very clear to the woman what she wants and how she receives intense pleasure, it isn’t always clear to the partner. Erotic films not only can be a tool for learning but a tool for communicating.
Dr Schwartz says “you are not suppose to watch it more that four or five minutes, you know”
It doesn’t take long for a woman’s mind to be stimulated.
If the stimulus is there she can take it from that point.
The problem with pornography it no longer stimulates the mind to imagine or to build from what is seen. There is nothing to imagine you are there. I will admit this is still a physical stimulus, for some people they can’t just see the head roll on the ground to know it was cut off. They have to see the head cut off, blood vessels cut and blood streaming out of the neck to believe the head was decapitated.
It is possible to change the stigma that is placed on porn, first by changing the name to erotic films.
Erotica immediately causes the mind to imagine a luxurious location, sensual clothing, and soft music, warm weather with a cool breeze, champagne, chocolates and fruit. The female consumer demands better quality in location, atmosphere and a believable story line, for women we want our minds, emotions and body stimulated. The new word for pornography (erotica) it is the beginning of stimulating the woman’s mind, before stimulating her body.

The language that is Autistic

Some look at autism as a kidnapping. The Child that came home from the hospital isn’t the child you have once autism takes effect. 1 in 150 births or 1 to 1.5 million Americans is diagnosed, but how many go undiagnosed. Why are boy four times more likely to develop this disease than girls. Is there a reason? Is this a phantom disease? I don’t know studies can be manipulated to reveal what ever you want. X-Chromosome, Mercury, child hood vaccines mothers blaming themselves, and wondering what they could have done to inflict their child.
There were several points in the movie “Autism the Musical” that raised questions or reason for thought for me. The father who was in a Rock Band saying he understood the children. How he used his guitar as a way to separate himself from the rest of the world, why because the world didn’t understand him. The Acting Coaches’ Son saying I want you to listen. Tells me no matter what you do to communicate with the child that is autistic if you don’t speak the language you can’t be understood.
Autistic children are described as Uncharacteristic, not conforming to the usual type or expected pattern. Atypical patterns of interest or behavior.
We do everything we can to make the autistic child fit in to our world. What do we do to fit into their world?
Autism is a handicap that isn’t localized to the individual but to the family and community.
The family has to find a way to communicate and live with the child that is autistic. The community has to find a way to embrace the autistic child. Find a way to integrate the child into the community. But what happens, we try to make the child communicate and live in the way that is already established and acceptable by society. We believe that is the only way they will be able to exist in society as we interpret.
It reminds me of being forced to speak the German language and Learn the German Culture then replacing it with your American Culture or language. To the autistic Child everything makes sense, until asked to explain it in a language that can be understood. Does the child understand life as we see it, but just isn’t able to communicate that understanding. Their super sensitively to sounds, color or smells, their need for controlled order, from the outside looking in this doesn’t make sense. But from the inside looking out this is the way things are suppose to exist. Instead of a square peg fitting into a round hole it is a round peg fitting into a square hole there are gaps.

Prayer
To whom it may concern:
Um could you please make this lottery ticket be a winning ticket?
I promise I will give a little to the poor.
To Whom It May Concern:
Could you do something about the Gas prices?
Thank you for this earth,
Thank you for my life and the lives of my family and friends.
Thank you for all the people and the animals, of this earth
Thank you for everything that makes me happy.
I petition that no one gets shot, stabbed, raped or beaten up today
There are so many different types of religions; people have their special way of expressing how or what they communicate and worship. They are passionate about their faith and teach their children to believe the same way. Train a child the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6) The teaching is passed down from generation to generation. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15) It usually doesn’t change for the child until they leave home and begin to question or challenge the foundation of their faith. At some point a child will either decide the way they were raised is the way they want to continue or decide there is a better way.
What is it that a child “won’t depart from” the logistic of prayer or words of prayer or the basis or spirit of prayer.
Prayer is an earnest request for something, with a slight chance or hope things will change. It is sometimes expressed in praise, thanksgiving, confession sometimes it is a chance to vent.
In a public form unless everyone agrees on a particular way of praying it is unfair to make every one pray in a dictated way. If you go to a private Christian based school then yes you pray the way that church prays and study the bible the way that church studies.
But in a public school any prayers or studies would have to be sensitive to all faiths.
When someone addresses a letter “to whom it may concern” it is because they don’t know who would get the letter. And this is a way to address the person with respect.
When people pray they know who they are praying to, to ask someone to pretend not to know is as unfair as to insist someone else to pray a dictated or generic prayer. People who pray or meditate are very passionate with how they pray. Anyone who prays believes the way they pray is the best way.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. (Eph 6:18)
In a corporate prayer it has to address everyone’s concern from pre-Christian Europe to Abrahamic religions to eastern religions to anism to neopaganism. How do you generate a spoken word that will address every one? Catholic vs. protestant both believe in Jesus Christ and his teaching but the logistics of each faith varies slightly and that variance caused a riot.
When you wake up in the morning you might spend time on the side of the bed you call it just trying to wake up. Someone else calls it meditation others calls it prayer.
Prayer or meditation centers you; it gives you a chance to, quiet your spirit, think on the greatness of the universe, voice your concerns, or make a request. What I see as greatness may not agree with what you see is greatness but never the less it is still great.

Are food companies to blame for America's obesity?

Work force, the economy, video games, virtual reality TV shows stress is the blame for America’s obesity. We are left with the choice to be entertain vs. being entertaining. The choice to watch someone else’s life unfolds vs. full participation in our own life. We are losing the desire to break an honest sweat. We No longer want to be a part of playing or participating in games that require physical movement. We would rather watch someone else but we are very supportive of their endeavors.
We are tired from working, over stressed from work and any escape is welcomed. Second life is a virtual world where you get a second chance at a life you wish you had. If you don’t like that life just delete it and start over again.
1978 – 2008 in the last 30 years, I’ve seen more women going in to the work force as single parents. Some maintaining at least two jobs, one full time, one part time. Still managing the family some of that managing means stopping into Mickey D’s for dinner. Or ordering Pizza’s on the way home.
I remember as a teen my mother working. My siblings and I were responsible for preparing the dinner with menu complete with desert. On Friday’s we would have fish I remember going to the fish market with my mother picking a flounder going home and she would cook.
Eventually she started stopping by Burger king on her way home. We would have whoppers, French fries, and milk shake.
Finally she was too tired to stop by Burger king and started sending me to pick up the Friday meal.
Women are taking on an equal portion of monetary responsibilities.
Men are embracing an equal portion of managing the home.
Women have looked at home bound duties as jobs.
What has happen couples are working a full time job and a part time job if the home responsibilities are shared. It is easier to pick something up instead of planning and preparing a healthy meal for the family. That is what the TV commercials advertise, especially after a long day at work. At least the family gets to sit down together.
The Food Companies met the demand of the customer. “Hurry up fix it so I can eat it and go to sleep”
Should elementary students be exposed to high sugar diets?
No, for the teacher’s sake no…
A high sugar diet is as giving crack. There is a massive high and just as destructive low. It is confusing, education as it is doesn't need any extra distractions associated with sugar.
If we serve sugar based cereal for breakfast and for an afternoon snack as well as an evening tie over, we teach our kids the easiest and quickest way is better. And it taste good.
It takes time to plan and prepare a healthy meal, time well spent if we want to see America slim down in time for the summer.

The dominoes effect:

Who killed the electric Car?
It was not killed it was sacrificed.
This is a study on the productivity, performance and progress in the Gulf Cooperation Council region, which The Conference Board is running in conjunction with Gulf Investment Corporation.
Sluggish productivity and an over reliance on oil and gas pose a threat to the future economic expansion of the countries in the Gulf Region. Such an over-reliance on natural resources is a shaky foundation for long term economic development and will hold back other sectors of the economy, such as high productivity manufacturing and financial services.

In essence Money is being made in the oil business abroad but not being reinvested in the local economy over all. Although the money looks good it is considered “Superficial
impression of affluence”. (R-1426-08-RR) Jobs are not being created.
The EV1 would not have been profitable economically for this nation. (Securitization: Preparation of marketable securities.)
If the car had survived and lived, a lot of people would be out of business or unemployed.
The birth, life, and death of the EV1 brought awareness to a nation that has become umbilically dependent on oil and gas. The responsibility is to find a way to use oil and gas but not destroy the earth in the process. Destruction is not only found in the OZONE
But in unemployment, if the hybrid is the answer then make a better hybrid.
If I heard a mechanic say working on the EV1 was a cleaner job and I sold soap. I don’t hear “ Oh good he gets to go home with clean hands” I hear my profits going down.
I hear my kids not getting into the best schools because I can’t afford to send them. I hear the schools saying we have to close the school because we don’t have enough students to support the school. It would only be the beginning of a dominoes effect.

Was he passionate?
It has been long going conversation with the men in my family, to understand the competitiveness of sports on any arena. In sports handicap can be an added advantage or disadvantage. This movie was like watching demolition derby and rugby
A statement was made during the movie paraphrased, the way Zupan was before the accident didn’t change after the accident if anything it got worst. How should we view the handicap, just as we view anything else or anyone else we encounter in our everyday life. We all have handicaps no one is perfect. It can be a hindrance or realization.
There was a feeling of empathy watching the film, not only for the handicap but for the handicap’s family.
It is difficult to imagine how it would feel to wake up one day get out of bed, live your life as you always have, and the next day not being able to move. There was a conversation years ago with a person that had lost their mother. A statement was made “I understand how you feel; before the statement was complete the person who had lost their mother says “it is impossible for you to understand unless you have lost your mother”.
Watching the movie was very emotional and hard to understand why a person who sustain an injury risk making that injury worst. I wonder if there was a passion for life or a death wish. I wonder if there are stages as with anything in our lives that a person goes through after this type of accident. The movie reminds me of watching the composition of a war, personal revenge, recruitment for more men, then the final feeling of success or failure. I wonder if this is what competitive sports is really all about.
